Stop me if you’ve heard this before. I can’t remember if I’ve blogged this subject, but even if I have it’s worth seeing again.
A few years ago, the BBC in the UK held a poll to find Britain’s favourite comedy moment. The winner was the Four Candles sketch by the Two Ronnies. But I’ve always thought there was another sketch that, with the wind blowing in the right direction, was even better.
Morecambe and Wise and the Grieg Piano Concerto with Andre Previn.
I won’t waffle any more. Watch the sketches and then tell us in the comments which you enjoyed more.
The Two Ronnies: Four Candles
Morecambe and Wise: Grieg’s Piano Concerto with Andre Previn.
I loved the four candles one the best. I knew when he put that box back on that shelf with the O’s that he was going to ask for something else from that same box. I love the Hoes, Hose, O’s bit!

Ronnie Corbett’s reaction to the letters box is classic: ‘Why didn’t you bleedin tell me… I’m on me own today.’

I know. Straight-faced comedy is hilarious!

I’d go for the Andre Preview sketch every time. It is so much more sophisticated and the timing is perfect. Also, the Four Candles sketch, although very funny, seems to lose its momentum towards the end. But that’s just my view.
Bugger. I wasn’t going to bother watching them but now I can’t wait.

I like the Four Candles sketch for Ronnie Corbett’s exasporated performance, but Grieg’s Piano Concerto With Him and Him takes it every time.
‘The introduction is too short? By how much?’
‘About a yard.’
